Part-Time Barista

We are seeking an experienced and professional barista with at least 2 years of barista experience and formal barista training. The ideal candidate is passionate about coffee, customer service, and creating a positive experience for every customer. As a key member of the team, the barista will be responsible for maintaining high standards of coffee preparation, serving food and beverages, and ensuring the smooth operation of café services.
This role also requires assisting with social media content creation and updates during shifts, engaging with customers, and contributing to a welcoming environment that reflects the values of the café. We encourage team members to participate in prayer gatherings and community activities as part of fostering a supportive, faith-aligned atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities
1.    Coffee & Beverage Preparation
●    Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, including a variety of espresso-based drinks such as lattes, cappuccinos, and flat whites.
●    Master the art of latte art and create visually appealing drinks for customers.
●    Operate and maintain café equipment, particularly the espresso machine, grinders, and milk frothers.
●    Ensure consistency in coffee quality, taste, and presentation.
●    Follow correct procedures for preparing coffee, ensuring each cup meets our café’s standards for quality.

2.    Customer Service & Interaction
●    Engage with customers in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner to ensure a positive experience.
●    Take orders using the POS system, process payments accurately, and issue receipts.
●    Provide personalized recommendations and engage customers with enthusiasm about the café’s offerings.
●    Handle customer complaints or concerns with tact and professionalism.

3.    Teamwork & Collaboration
●    Work effectively as part of a team, helping colleagues during peak times and ensuring a smooth flow of service.
●    Support other team members by preparing drinks, serving food, or assisting with cleaning as needed.
●    Follow all team protocols and communicate effectively with the team to maintain café operations.

4.    Café Operations & Cleanliness
●    Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in the café, workspace, and equipment.
●    Ensure that all equipment is cleaned, maintained, and serviced regularly.
●    Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, especially with regards to food preparation and hygiene.
●    Regularly sanitize surfaces, tools, and equipment to maintain hygiene standards.
●    Restock supplies such as cups, napkins, and ingredients when needed.

6.    Community Engagement
●    Create a welcoming atmosphere for all customers and ensure they feel valued and comfortable.
●    Participate in occasional team prayer gatherings or community activities that align with the café’s mission and values.
●    Represent the café’s mission by being friendly, approachable, and an active contributor to the team’s supportive culture.

7.    Engagement with Church Activities
●    Participate in team prayer gatherings and church-related meetings as required.
●    Contribute to the café’s welcoming atmosphere, reflecting the church’s community values.
●    Support the church’s mission through positive interactions and engagement with visitors.

Highly Desirable 
●    Social Media Content Creation
○    Assist with posting engaging content on Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms during your shift.
○    Help promote special offers, events, and seasonal drinks through creative posts and stories.
○    Take aesthetically pleasing photos of drinks and food for social media promotion.
●    Up to 2 years of barista experience in a fast-paced café environment.
●    Professional barista training or certification.
●    Expertise in latte art and espresso-based beverages.

Required
●    Some experience of being a barista in a fast-paced café environment.
●    Some proficiency with POS systems and basic cash-handling skills.
●    Flexible schedule, with the ability to work on Saturdays.
●    Passionate about coffee, with a strong desire to deliver excellent service to customers.
●    Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other café staff.
●    Friendly, approachable, and able to converse comfortably with customers.
●    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
●    Ability to multitask and maintain a calm demeanor during busy periods.
●    Willingness to contribute to a café environment that reflects community values and supports activities such as team prayer and church-related events.
