Bishop's Council

Bishop’s Council is responsible for considering diocesan policies and advising the bishop. Some aspects of the council’s findings and points of discussion may be taken forward to Diocesan Synod for presentation, debate and feedback. Bishop’s Council is the executive committee of the Diocesan Synod and the board of directors of the Diocesan Board of Finance.

The Diocese of Chester has a number of boards, and committees, that meet on a regular basis. The findings and recommendations of these groups are passed to Bishop’s Council for scrutiny and consideration.

The members comprise the bishops and archdeacons, the chair and the vice-chair of the Diocesan Board of Finance and the dean of Chester Cathedral. Additionally, there are the Ex-officio roles of the president and vice-presidents of Diocesan Synod,
