Support for women in ministry

Dean of Women in Ministry in the Diocese of Chester, the Revd Christine Broad, is encouraging all in the diocese, men and women, to contact her with any matters relating to women in ministry.

Christine, who holds the diocesan role in addition to her ministry as Rector of Woodchurch, says everyone is welcome to contact her if they need support, or have ideas that might help others in ministry.

She says: “If you are a member of the clergy or a licensed minister, please do contact me with any pastoral issues arising from being a woman in ministry or relating to it. I’d be happy to offer a friendly ear.

“I’m also open to ideas from women in ministry with regard to how women in this diocese would wish to be supported in their ministry.”

Bishop Peter Forster appointed her to the role earlier this year and asked her to be a member of the Bishop’s Staff. Christine hopes to be able to feed ideas from her discussion with others, into that conversation too.

She says: “It’s been good to be a part of the Bishop’s Staff. Bishop Peter appointed me to the role to offer an ordained woman’s perspective to conversations and discussions which take place and advise the bishop with regard issues particularly affecting women in ministry.”

Christine is also invited to attend other meetings, including Bishop’s Council, Diocesan Synod and missional and pastoral meetings.

She says: “I try to get to as many meetings and events across the diocese as I can and introduce myself to people. Please do come and say hello if you see me and feel free to contact me. The invitation is to men too, as there may be a situation where a male minister would wish to seek advice and I am very happy for that to happen too.”
