How could you serve God? Book for Called to Serve

As we explore together how God is calling us all to bless the 1.5m in this diocese, are you thinking how God might be calling to serve? If that’s you, then the Called to Serve event at Foxhill on Saturday January 27th could be what you need to help you explore the next step.

Called to Serve is a chance to explore and find out more about the opportunities for different types of ministry and service. It will include information on exploring a call to be an ordained or licensed lay minister like a Pastoral Worker, Reader or Church Army evangelist but also a variety of other ways of serving God in both the church and the world.

The event starts at 10.00 (arrivals from 9.30) and runs until 3.30pm, with worship at the start and finish and lunch provided in the middle. In the morning there will be an overview of several different types of ministry and an overview of what they are, as well as thinking about some general resources for exploring where God is calling you.
Then in the afternoon there will be a chance to find out more about some practicalities, like what’s involved in discerning a call to different types of ministry, what the training might look like, and how the ministry feels in practice. A range of people from the Ministry team at Church House and various different areas of ministry will be there to talk about ordained and licensed ministry and areas like chaplaincy and youth and childrens work. Bishop Sam, the Bishop of Stockport, will be there heading up a day that’s designed to help people explore where God might be calling hem and what that might mean.
If you're a church leader, do think who you might be encouraging to take this step of exploring where God might be calling them.

Thinking how you might serve God? Then come along to the 'Called to Serve: Vocations Day Conference' on 27 January 2024.
