All parishes invited to Journey into Light

The finale of Journey into Light is just a few weeks away and all parishes, via their PCC Secretaries, should now have received letters in the post inviting representatives from the parish to attend the event.

The finale and thanksgiving service will be held at St George’s Church, Stockport, on Tuesday 17 December from 6pm. It is open to all in the diocese and will be the final chance for members of the public to see the art exhibition and to learn about the inspirational stories behind the pieces of art.

As well as the exhibition, guests to St George’s Church, Stockport, will be treated to music, carols, and canapes at what it is hoped will be a joyful and hopeful finale to Journey into Light.

Parishes also received details in the post about how they can give a gift to prisoners at HMP Styal and HMP Thorn Cross this Christmas, as part of the special event.

Journey into Light launched in October 2018 and features over 40 individual pieces of artwork produced by prisoners at HMP Styal and HMP Thorn Cross, Cheshire.

The aim of the exhibition is to demonstrate to visitors that behind every prisoner’s conviction and sentence is a personal story of love, hope and loss.

Just under 40 parishes have hosted Journey into Light since it was launched at Chester Cathedral. Around the diocese, an estimated 6000 people have viewed it.
