The Journey weekend proves to be a hit

Young people from different parts of the diocese enjoyed a weekend at Foxhill as part of The Journey, a weekend of activities and fun for young Christians.

The group divided into teams who then competed in various events with some light-hearted rivalry between The Mooing Cows and The Team With No Name who had to design their own logos and came up with a team chant.

The theme of the weekend was "The hope that Jesus brings". The group thought about the world around us and why we need hope now, and then thought about the hope Jesus offers after death; the hope Jesus offers for today; and how the hope that we have can be shared with others. There was also time for prayer and reflection with activities inspired by the website Prayer Spaces in Schools which aims to enable children and young people to explore life’s questions, spirituality and faith in a safe, creative, and interactive way.

Jonny Masters, Youth, Children and Families’ Adviser in the Diocese of Chester organised the weekend with a team of youth workers from across the diocese. Jonny said: "Being with a group of enthusiastic young people who are exploring what it means to have faith in unstable times was an enormous privilege. I am so grateful to the team who made this happen, and to Foxhill for hosting us.”

The Journey will return next year. Young people from across the diocese are welcome to attend. If you would like to express an interest in bringing young people (or a young person) from your parish to The Journey 2023 please contact Jonny Masters to be the first to be offered a place.
