Incumbent for Tarporley

21Rural Ministry in central Cheshire

We are seeking a mission-minded incumbent for this parish of central tradition in a rural setting, within easy reach of Chester. The population is around 4,000.

The parish is of central tradition and includes the parish church in Tarporley itself, and two daughter churches in the outlying villages of Cotebrook and Eaton. There are two church schools.

We are looking for a new incumbent who will:

  • be an effective preacher and good communicator with teaching ability;
  • relate well to children and young people both in church and at the schools;
  • encourage the development of Christian discipleship and lay ministry;
  • build on the foundations laid in recent years and maintain the unity which has grown between the three churches;
  • be energetic, and a good organiser with a genuine pastoral heart;
  • minister well among the retired and elderly in the parish;
  • engage well with the wider local community.
