Incumbent for Malpas, Threapwood & Bickerton

Ministry in Rural Cheshire

We are seeking an incumbent for this united benefice of two parishes in a beautiful part of rural Cheshire, with a total population of around 4,000. There are three churches (St Oswald Malpas, St John Threapwood and Holy Trinity Bickerton). The parishes are of central tradition. There are strong community links and several schools, including a church school. A good modern rectory is provided.

We are looking for a mission-minded new incumbent who:

  • will articulate a positive and engaging Christian faith and help the congregations to live out their discipleship in everyday life;
  • will foster the development of traditional services, including our strong choral tradition at St Oswald’s, while bringing vision and innovation to take the churches forward in growth;
  • will demonstrate good pastoral skills and will engage effectively across the generations;
  • will be committed to reaching children and young people and working with our local schools;
  • will get involved actively in the life of our local communities;
  • will work with the PCCs and congregations to help secure the financial stability of our parishes.
