The role of a Treasurer in a parish is significant, and understanding the responsibilities involved can make the job more manageable and enjoyable. For long-serving treasurers, staying updated with current requirements is not just best practice but also an opportunity to refine processes that may be out of date. Recognising the need for treasurers to be well-informed, 'Data Developments' has created a complimentary treasurer course.
This course covers the essentials with practical examples and offers valuable advice for both new and seasoned treasurers. Each session concludes with a live Q&A period.
Led by former and current treasurers, the goal of these courses is to promote best practices, enhance reporting, and provide support to volunteers in these crucial roles.

Budgets – how to create them from scratch and use them
This course will explore the role of the treasurer, why we need financial controls to protect everyone, what those financial controls should be in practice, what you should and shouldn't do and where you can get further guidance, if needed

This course will explore: What are Funds and why do we need them, What is the Charities Act, What does it require us to do, What is SORP and do I have to follow it, Does it apply to me, What are funds, Why are there different types of fund and what do they mean
Monday 22nd April - 5pm - 6pm
This course will explore: Internal Financial controls, Basic principles, Looking after Income and Expenditure, Gift aid and GASDS, Risks - the do's and don'ts, Assets and Security
Monday 29th of April - 5pm - 6pm
This course will explore: R & P or Prepayments & Accruals, End of Year Processes & Procedures, End of Year Reports
