Safer Recruitment is an essential part of safeguarding. There is now clear national guidance that sets out safer recruitment practices for people working or volunteering with children and adults. The guidance addresses two key areas – the recruitment process and criminal record checks (DBS).
The guidance also clarifies which roles are eligible for a DBS check and provides helpful templates for use within parishes. Other issues covered are the DBS on line update service and portability and the process for making a referral to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
