Vicar Bill Baker wedding Crewe 2014

undefinedThe Vicar of St Andrew's, Crewe, the Revd Canon Bill Baker, married Pat Evans recently, after postponing the ceremony back in May because of illness. They are PICTURED with the Archdeacon of Macclesfield, the Ven Ian Bishop, who officiated.

Bill, aged 69, was admitted for emergency open heart surgery earlier this year. He’s recovering well and was able to complete his wedding at St Andrew’s church on Saturday 30 August.

A reception was held at the town’s Waverley Hotel after the wedding service. Guests enjoyed a meal, speeches and dancing.

Bill, a former insurance manager before becoming a priest, married Pat, a former Churchwarden and former bank worker. It is Pat’s first marriage. Bill’s previous marriage ended in 2012 when his first wife died.

Archdeacon Ian said: “The wedding was a great celebration for Bill and Pat; both of their relationship and of Bill’s recovery.”

Bill has been Vicar at St Andrew’s for 21 years, and is a former Rural Dean of Nantwich. He is due to retire next year.
