School leaders gather together for conference

Over 80 school leaders from the Diocese of Chester gathered together for the annual Church School and Senior Leader Conference. Held at the Park Royal Hotel on 23 November, the event was an opportunity for people to share ideas and experiences amongst their fellow delegates.

Chris Penn, Director of Education for the Diocesan Board of Education, described the conference as: “An opportunity to come together, refuel, reflect and to empower our spiritual leadership so that we can enable children to flourish and experience life and in all its forms.”

The keynote speaker of the day was Bishop Stephen Cottrell, Bishop of Chelmsford and prolific author. His presentation was based on the theme of, ‘How do you guard your heart?’ Stephen said: “It’s important to ensure that the spiritual well-being of Headteachers and Senior leaders is preserved. It’s a demanding role and I want to help people at the conference to understand what a fantastic job they do.”
