A new way ... ‘to be a Pilgrim’

undefinedA major new teaching and discipleship resource from the Church of England has been lauched. Pilgrim' as the course is called has the backing of our two Archbishops, who said in a joint statement: "The Pilgrim course is a journey to the heart of God and to a living, personal relationship with Jesus Christ."

Among those who contributed to ‘Pilgrim’ were: the Bishop Stockport, the Rt Revd Robert Atwell (pictured); the Bishop of Sheffield, the Rt Revd Steven Croft;' and the biblical studies lecturer Dr Paula Gooder.

The course offers an approach of participation. Enquirers are encouraged to practise the ancient disciplines of biblical reflection and prayer, exploring key texts that have helped people since the early Church.

‘Pilgrim’ is made up of two parts: ‘Follow’ and ‘Grow’. The first introduces the Christian faith. The second part aims to develop a deeper level of discipleship.

Assuming little or no knowledge of the Christian faith, the course can be used at any point on the journey of discipleship and by every tradition in the Church of England.
