MayFest report, Upton, WirraL 2015

undefinedSt Mary's church in Upton, Wirral, held a festival last month (May) to celebrate having reached the end of the first phase of a major church building redevelopment. MayFest 2015 featured six music events and a range of family-friendly activities including Messy Church and a family trail through the church.

The main church building was reopened in time for MayFest. The most visible change is the flexible seating, designed to accommodate different styles of worship and activities.

Work on phase 2 of the ‘Faith Building’ project – the creation of a major new centre for use by the parish and the wider local community – will start soon. Giving and fund-raising for it continues.

Baptisms were held as part of the Mayfest celebrations – pictured above

Below this new oil painting by local artist Ron Hinkson was displayed. The painting is based on St Mary’s ‘Last Supper’ chancel windows
