Honour for padre Jerry Sutton Nov 2012

undefinedThe Revd Jerry Sutton, Vicar of St Margaret's and St Mark's, Dunham Massey, has received the Queen's Volunteer Reserves Medal (QVRM) for services as an Army chaplain. The medal was presented to him by the Queen (pictured) at Buckingham Palace on Friday 9 November.

Jerry, who has served in the Royal Army Chaplains' Department for 23 years, also holds the Territorial Decoration, which was presented to him by Prince Charles in 2003. Over the years Jerry has served in many operations overseas – including Bosnia and Cyprus.

And in recent years he has done much work here in Britain, offering pastoral support to service personnel wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan, and in organising funerals for those killed in action, and for their families.

Jerry is also a member of the team that offers long-term support to soldiers returning to civilian life after serving on operations. As a padre, he holds the rank of major.
