Choir in Malpas celebrates success


undefinedMembers of the choir of St Oswald's church in Malpas are celebrating the success of two of their members. Edmund Le Brocq (pictured), a leading tenor, is leaving to read Music Technology at Huddersfield University later this month. Also, a former baritone in the choir and well-known local soloist, Peter Edge, starts his undergraduate course in singing next week at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester.

The choir's director of music, Stewart Smith, said:  “I am very proud of the choir's achievements in the past two years and I am delighted with the success of these two young singers.

“We have received an invitation to sing Evensong in Chester Cathedral in December – a very exciting challenge for the choir”. 

The choir gave a concert to a packed church at Malpas in July when they joined another former choir member, soprano soloist Emily Burnett (who is now reading music at Durham University for an evening of songs and anthems).
