Christmas radio messages from Julie and Mark

Bishop Mark and Bishop Julie have recorded their Christmas messages. They were both broadcast on BBC Radio Merseyside on Sunday 19 December as part of the Daybreak show presented by Helen Jones.

In his Christmas message, Bishop Mark talks about the birth of Jesus and goodwill to all men, but is also keen to emphasise his love of mince pies, crackers, and mulled wine and the importance of celebrating and finding a reason to "party together".

In her Christmas message, Bishop Julie ponders whether we really are able to honour the enormity of the story and of what it means to us all. She talks of how, in her short time in the Diocese of Chester, she has witnessed many good things being done by many good people and offers a prayer for us all in which she asks God that we may all understand, "the enormity of God's love and might rise to the challenge of showing that love to others."

The bishops were joined by the Bishop of Liverpool, Paul Bayes, and the Archbishop of Liverpool, the Most Reverend Malcolm McMahon.

You can hear Bishop Julie's and Bishop Mark's messages below or listen again to BBC Radio Merseyside's, Daybreak in full on the BBC Sounds website.
