Bishop Mark kicks off Clergy Gathering

The Bishop of Chester, Mark Tanner, kicked off the Clergy Gathering 2022 by welcoming clergy and leading them in worship and Bible study focusing on teaching around Mark 1:14-18.

The first act of the conference was prayer and worship followed swiftly by the commissioning of two new Pastoral Chaplains by Bishop Mark, the Revd Georgina Watmore, and the Revd Lynn Boyle. A third, the Revd Ian Davenport, will also be commissioned but was unable to attend.

Welcoming the gathered clergy at the start of the four-day conference, Bishop Mark shared a memory of playing croquet on the lawn at a previous Clergy Gathering he attended as a curate, and urged the clergy to enjoy their time together.

In his opening address, Bishop Mark explored the theme of Drawing near to God. Watch his talk and Bible study below.
