| Equipping you with the tools
you need. Develop impressive skills in working with young people
Helping you to communicate the gospel effectively
to a new generation!
Training is an important part of the youth
office's work with parishes across the Diocese. The youth office
uses three regular training activities with other parish-specific,
offered by negotiation (see other services).
Training Offered:
Anyone
Can ... Engage with young people The 'Anyone
Can... engage with young people' project is aimed at resourcing parishes across the Diocese
to start youth work. Or to re-engage with young people. Go to the Anyone Can section for
more details and dates.
Toolbox Days
Toolbox is a day of workshops for children’s and youth leaders run jointly
with Lichfield Diocese and ecumenical partners. There are a wide range of
workshops for those who want to tackle a topic at a basic level and those
who want to go deeper.
Equipping Equipping—are the Church
of England’s new Core Competencies in youth work that were adopted by Synod
last summer. They are a response to the National Youth Strategy. The competencies are achieved through a set of training sessions and the
completion of a portfolio and lead to achieving a Bishop’s or Archbishops’
Certificate in youth work—depending on the level you want to achieve. To
receive your certificate you will have to attend one of the courses and
complete your portfolio over a period time (to suit you). This is basic
level training and would be a natural progression into the Church Colleges’
Certificate in youth work.
Church Colleges' Certificate in
Christian Youth Work (CCCCYW) A
part-time course held over three terms, and validated by the University of
Chester, the course is intended for those who wish to develop their
understanding and skills in youth work in a church setting. It's key that anyone who is
working with young people is familiar with child protection guidelines and
policies and regularly updates their training. The youth office in
partnership with the diocesan child protection group and other partners
regularly provides training. Check out the Child protection section
for information.
