19-21 May 2006

Quinta weekend 2006 was one of the biggest and best in recent years. Over one hundred young people attended the diocesan youth weekend in May.

The rain failed to damped spirits as the young people, from youth groups from across the Diocese, explored how to get Closer to what God wants them to be.

The weekend started with a challenge to spend the weekend exploring how they can write God into their lives. This led into the fun of the late night café.

Through workshops the young people discovered what it meant to be a disciple, their skills and talents and how to live a life fully for God. With subjects like worship, prayer and input from Christian Aid, the young people had plenty of opportunity to see how they could weave God into their lives deeper, or, for the first time.

Saturday afternoon was time to get messy with ’It’s a Fruit out’ the Dioceses very own version of it’s a knock out. Teams competed to win the converted title of the ’It’s a Fruit out’ champions.

In the evening the young people got to grill the leaders, in separate boys and girls spaces, asking any questions they liked.

The uniqueness of Quinta Weekend meant that the leaders who travelled with the young people were able to explore how they could get Closer to what god wants for them through training whilst the workshops were happening.

Quinta Weekend was fully booked this year and a few more places have been available for next year, so any group thinking of going should book early.

A big ‘THANK YOU’ goes out to all the team who helped put the weekend together.
