Child Protection Training
Keeping all God's children safe

Child protection training is one of the most important processes we are involved in.  Keeping young people and adults who work with them safe from harm should be an important part of any parish's commitment to young people.

The Child Protection Advisory Group would like to hear from other parishes interested in hosting basic awareness sessions. Each event is open initially to churches in the same deanery but others are welcome to enquire about availability of places.

The basic child protection session currently available from the diocese for anyone working with children and young people (0–18) in the church or responsible for such work. It focuses on ‘good practice’ to enable children’s and youth work to be undertaken safely and in line with national and diocesan standards. It also helps participants to identify what may constitute ‘harm’ to children, to respond appropriately to concerns about a child’s welfare and to know what help and support is available.
