Projects and Events with Local Schools

David the Giant Slayer

Cathryn Houghton is the Children and Families Worker at St. Peter’s Church, Elworth. One aspect of herrole is to engage local primary schools in an annual bible based project which brings together the children, staff and members of their church community. The project this year was, ‘David the Giant Slayer’ and the aim was to celebrate this vibrant and exciting bible story through a variety of media. Click here for details.

Who moved the stone?

The Revd Chris Blunt from St. Luke's Huntington and St. Paul's Boughton has produced a wonderful Easter detective event for primary schools and he's provided all the resources needed to reproduce it - apart from personnel obviously!  To access the material, click here.

A Lord’s Prayer Experience for Primary Schools

The Lord’s Prayer was the focus of a multi-sensory worship experience at St Boniface over Easter. Building upon the church’s work with Bunbury Primary School, and the success of previous projects, a similar experience was created for Holy Week this year. The Lord’s Prayer is all about relationships - it is a ‘together’ prayer: ‘Our Father... give us...”. Adults and children, new Christians and old, Christians from all traditions, can all pray this prayer together with faith and hope and love. Reverend Tim Hayward says, “It was a real success with young and old!”

Click HERE for a detailed description of how to do it. Rev Tim suggests that it would fit very well with the Archbishops’ initiative for evangelism during the lead up to Pentecost, see HERE.

More information from the Reverend Tim Hayward or Revd Sue Mayo, Diocesan Consultant for School/Church Links.
