Building Work

In an aided school, the governors are responsible for building work.
The procedures to be followed in this Diocese can be seen here.

Appointments

In an aided school, the governors are the employers of most of the staff. Governors must ensure that staff have the correct contract of employment - LA contracts should NOT be used, but National Society contracts, downloadable below.

Lettings

Money made from any lettings belongs to the Governing Body, unless the Trust Deed indicates otherwise. All expenses such as heating, lighting and caretaking must be reimbursed to the school’s budget, and any profit then paid into the governors’ account. This is one source of funds to help towards building work.

It is important that an appropriate agreement is made between the governors and the hirer. There are two hiring forms, one for Church based groups and one for non-Church groups provided by the National Society.
