HEADTEACHER INDUCTION 2009/10
New Headteachers are supported in their ministry in schools by the Diocesan Team. The support is aimed at giving them practical help across a range of issues within a Church school setting, including the local Parish. This induction will take the form of six meetings, one per half term, and new headteachers are strongly encouraged to attend them.
A school visit – One of the Diocesan team will visit each new headteacher. They will go through the induction process and pick up any particular issues which may then be referred to other appropriate team members. If appropriate, a headteacher mentor will be nominated at this visit. The visit will start off the self evaluation process and SEF input.
11 November 2009 1 pm - Church House, Aldford A visit to Church House All headteachers are invited, as a group, to Church House in order to meet the Diocesan Team and to find out how they are supported by them. There will be introductions, followed by appropriate input. Meeting led by Jeff Turnbull, Sue Noakes and Chris Woodward.
21 January 2010 1 pm - Foxhill Conference Centre Working with the Church A meeting for Headteachers and their ministers in order to look at parish partnership and how it can be developed. Meeting led by Jeff Turnbull and Ian McDougall.
18 March 2010 1 pm - Foxhill Conference Centre Being a Church School A meeting to discuss Church School distinctiveness, ethos, collective worship and RE. Meeting led by Jeff Turnbull, Ian McDougall and Jane Brooke.
28 April 2010 10 am - Church House, Aldford Admissions, staffing and governors A specialist meeting to discuss legal and practical issues around these important topics. The meeting is for ‘aided’ heads. Meeting led by Jeff Turnbull and Sue Noakes.
8 July 2010 10 am – Foxhill Church School Inspections A close look at section 48 inspections – the process and how schools can prepare for them. Meeting led by Chris Hall and Sue Noakes.
All of these meetings are ‘tasters’ and, depending on the individual school circumstances, can be developed and followed up by appropriate consultants.
We hope that new headteachers will make every effort to attend the meetings and to work with the Diocese in creating a school worthy of its calling. We look forward to meeting you over the coming months.

This year we will have Mark Townsend, a clergyman who is also a magician!
Participating schools receive a CD with the music that will be sung to ensure everyone knows the tune.
