Is YOUR church a potential award winner?
OUTSTANDING examples of church repairs could win The King of Prussia’s Gold Medal Award in a competition run by the Ecclesiastical Architects and Surveyors Association. Also on offer is the Presidents’ Award for the best new church buildings, re-orderings or extensions. This latter award comprises an historic chalice and paten (on loan for a year to the winning church) and a £500 bursary for the winning architect. Entries to be submitted by Thursday, September 9. Entries forms are available from: The Secretary, Ecclesiastical Architects and Surveyors Association, 453 Glossop Road, Sheffield S10 2PT. * In the late 1800s the King Friedrice Wilhelm IV of Prussia took a great interest in English churches and church decoration. He was so grateful for the assistance that English church artists and architects gave to him that he presented them with a gold medal. It is this medal that is now used to honour the continuing fine tradition of church architecture and design in England.
