Something a bit unusual at church’s exhibition
ALL Saints Church at Saughall, Chester, is to hold an arts and crafts show – with a rather unusual exhibit. The theme of the exhibition is the celebration of God’s creation and the aim is to raise funds for the restoration of the church’s 1918 Henry Poyser organ. Parish organist Collette Jones will give a sponsored organ performance to raise money for the organ fund.
An art installation by Collette and her friend Chris Callaway, entitled ‘All Creation Praise Him’, is likely to prove a talking point. The piece is made of various pipes from the organ rescued from the chapel at the old St Catherine’s Hospital in Birkenhead some 15 years ago when rebuilding took place. The exhibition runs from 2pm to 5 pm on Sat 30 Sep and from 1pm to 5pm on Sun 1 Oct. Refreshments will be available. The event will end with a Festival of Hymns and Music at 6:30 pm on the Sunday evening.
