C3 for Christ, community and creativity

THE branch of “Fresh Expressions” known as C3 is up and running in the Stockport area. One the groups is a music-making one (pictured).

Guitar-playing featured prominently in the first session of the music and technology group which mixes adults and young people.

Also on offer around the Stockport borough are C3 interest groups for greetings card-making,  arts and crafts and stained glass. The project does not hold church services in the conventional sense. It does not have a church building and its activities are just as much about what goes on midweek in the various creativity groups than anything that happens on Sundays.

C3 also have small groups for people who have questions about life and God and who want to meet with others to talk and pray together. The name C3 stands for Christ, community and creativity.

The Revd Tony Hardy is the leader.  He says:” Without anybody intending it to be so, churches can become clubs for Christians. In C3 we aim to make relationships and friendships with people who are unused to church or simply to do other things on Sundays. We find that we can do this in a natural way using creative activity. We share our faith when we are invited to but will not be pushy.
