Xmas tree fest Knutsford 2014

undefinedChurch groups at St Cross in Knutsford have been getting ready for their community Christmas tree festival this weekend. The Sunflowers (a pre-school group that meets monthly for a story service and crafts) decorated their tree with sunflowers each of which had the face of a member on it.

There were also scenes from the nativity as well as Santa figures.

The Knit and Natter group have been busy over the last month knitting decorations for their tree. These include angels, stars, Santas, robins and many more. While most were knitted, some were crocheted and a few are made from lace.

Lace holds a special interest for the vicar, the Revd Jayne Shepherd, who spent her recent sabbatical exploring the history of lace in Christian communities across Europe.

The Christmas tree festival is on throughout this weekend: Friday 5 December (10am to 7pm); Saturday 6 December (10am to 6pm) and Sunday 7 December (11am to 4pm). It finishes with carol singing on Sunday between 4 and 5pm.
