Radio 4 Christmas Broadcast 2013

undefinedBBC Radio 4 will on Christmas Day broadcast a service from our cathedral. It will be aired from 9am. The theme will be Shepherds' Delight' and it will explore Christmas from the perspective of the shepherds in St Luke's gospel.

The Bishop of Chester, the Rt Revd Dr Peter Forster, will be the preacher and will address the themes of joy and peace from the story of the shepherds.

The service will be led by the cathedral’s precentor, the Revd Canon Chris Humphries, and the Revd Clair Jaquiss – assistant priest in Hale Barns with Ringway, who is also a radio producer in the BBC’s Religion and Ethics department.

Among the much-loved music to feature in the service will be the carols While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night and God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen.  And there will be a mystery play extract – The Shepherds and the Angels.
