Transforming Lives Together LAUNCH 2013

RSS

undefinedTransforming Lives Together (TLT) is a new joint venture between Church Urban Fund and Diocese of Chester. TLT will have the vision of transforming lives and communities through every person in every church in every community tackling poverty.

The new board of trustees met during the autumn of 2013, bringing together a wide range of expertise from Anglican and nonconformist churches and representatives from the Church Urban Fund.

Ian Bishop, Archdeacon of Macclesfield and a trustee of TLT, hopes that churches can make a real difference by working together to tackle poverty. He said: “As I go round the diocese, I see lots of people who are struggling. Our aim in TLT is to create a movement that can make a difference with churches working together.”

Work starts with an online survey to establish how churches are already involved in social action projects within their communities. All Anglican churches are encouraged to complete the survey so that a database of projects can be built up.

“We want to celebrate the contribution of churches within our communities and build up networks of people working on similar projects” said Ruth Mock, assistant development worker for TLT and our diocesan family life officer.

Jenny Mayo-Lythall, currently curate at St Thomas’ church, Norbury, will be taking on the post of TLT development worker after Easter and will be happy to come and talk to deanery synods about her work from May 2014.
