The Queen's 90th Birthday Celebrations

RSS

undefinedChurches and schools across the Diocese celebrated the Queen's 90th birthday over the weekend of 11-12 June, with all manner of festivities being held to mark the occasion.

There were parades, street parties and community lunches in many of our parishes, bringing people together for a time of celebration and community spirit.

Many churches held special services to commemorate the Queen's birthday and time as Monarch of Great Britain.

In a special service at Chester Cathedral Bishop Peter gave a sermon in which he recognised the role that the Queen has played as Supreme Governor of the Church of England saying; "Throughout her reign, Queen Elizabeth II has exemplified, and personified, that spiritual power and calling of monarchy."
