Teddy bears' picnic in Knutsford JUly 2014

undefinedEarlier this month (July 2014) families with young children were invited to a teddy bears' picnic by St Cross parish in the town. The congregation were also invited to come along and get to know one another better.

In church, everyone listened to a story told using puppets along with prayers and songs. This was followed by craft activities and games in the parish room and then a picnic provided and served by the Mothers’ Union.

The highlight was an 80-foot zip wire running from the tower across the nave of the church. Each teddy had the chance to be taken up to the top of the zip wire in a basket and then everyone cheered as they whizzed down the wire at great speed.

Most of the children laughed and clapped – though one or two were slightly anxious about their teddies.
“Everyone, young and not-so-young, had a great wonderful time,” said the Revd Trish Cope, curate at St Cross.
