Stockport Christmas tree festival 2013

undefinedSt George's Church in Heavily, Stockport, enjoyed a big success with its seventh annual Christmas Tree festival back in November (pictured). The event featured 82 trees and attracted nearly 4,000 visitors. It raised thousands of pounds for the church and its current special project the repair of the organ.

The event this year also proved an opportunity for the new vicar, the Revd Canon Elaine Chegwin Hall, to become acquainted quickly with the congregation and wider community.

As usual, many local schools, clubs and small and medium-sized businesses sponsored trees for the festival, and while they were at the church setting up stands and later taking them down, they were able to meet and work together with members of the congregation.

Each year the festival committee conduct a visitors’ survey. One remark recorded this year was this: “The Christmas message was there for those who believe and those who don’t.”
