Roger Scoones radio star Nov 2014

undefinedA Stockport priest who hit the newspaper headlines after falling in church and breaking his wrist while taking a wedding service has started to feature regularly on BBC Radio Manchester. The Revd Roger Scoones (PICTURED) has been popping up often on Becky Want's ‘Lunch time' show between 12 midday and 1pm. His collection of teddy bears was a recent topic of conversation and source of affection for listeners.

The Rector of St Mary's in the Marketplace, Stockport, Roger ended up with his arm in a splint after he fell towards the end of a wedding service at St Mary’s earlier this year.

National newspapers followed up the story, and so did BBC Radio Manchester, which struck a chord with Roger and started to use clips of him in broadcasts. Station staff also knew the Rector from times when they’d done outside broadcasts from Stockport Market.

To date Roger has broadcast about relationships with parents, Christmas trees in October, Halloween, and the renewed popularity of cake-baking. He has more punditry slots fixed up with the radio station in the run-up to Christmas.
