Rake and Pikel Xmas carols service 2013

undefinedLocal drinkers and diners at the Rake & Pikel pub in Huntington, Chester, found themselves participating in an informal carol-singing session on the night before Christmas Eve. The pub, in Chester Road, played host to 'Beer and Carols' led by members of nearby St. Luke's church.

For 30 minutes, scores of customers sang the traditional Christmas songs with a pint in one hand and a carol sheet in the other. It was remarked by several people in the busy pub, that it was the closest they got to experiencing church.

John Cheek of St. Luke's church said: "With this event we were close to having ‘no room at the inn’. People were crowding in doorways and standing at the back, trying to sing along."
