Parish fun run at Oulton Park

undefinedSt Peter's church, Little Budworth, is holding a sponsored family fun run at nearby Oulton Park which usually hosts car and motorbike races. The fun run will raise money for the organ restoration fund at St Peter's.

The run will be preceded by a commemorative service organised by the parish to mark the passing of 90 years since the former Oulton Hall (home to the Egerton family) was badly damaged by a fire.

Only parts of the fabric of the hall survived the blaze in February 1926 when six people lost their lives. The remaining parts of the mansion were destroyed in a German bombing raid in November 1940.

The racing track passes in front of the site of where Oulton Hall stood. That is where the parish commemoration service will start at 11am, on Sunday 21 February, and it will be followed by the fun run of 2.7 miles.

The events have been organised by kind permission of the Oulton Park racing circuit.
