New Bishop for Melanesia

Father Leonard, a member of the Melanesian Brotherhood, who studied in Chester, is to become a Bishop of The Diocese of Temotu.

Father Leonard studied theology and religious studies at the University of Chester in 2005, spending three years in our diocese as part of our link with the Melanesian Brotherhood.

After his time in Chester he returned to to the Soloman Islands as a Melanesian Brother and in 2006 Leonard became a deacon and was priested in 2007. Since then he has held several positons within the Brotherhood and the Anglican Church of Melanesia.

His consecration is on 11 September in the Solomon Islands and will be attended by Bishop Peter, who has followed and supported the progress of Father Leonard over the years.

The Diocese of Temotu encompases a group of islands, the main Island being Santa Cruz, in the Solomon Islands, in the South Pacific.
