undefinedThe diocesan communications officers are to host a free one-day course covering the basic principles of photography, websites and media handling. It will be held at Foxhill, our diocesan conference and spiritual centre in Frodsham, on Wednesday 28 May, from 10am to 3.30pm.

There are 20 places available on the course which is suitable for anyone interested in developing media skills for parish use. Lunch will be provided.

The main areas to be covered will be ...

Publicising parish activities – preparing effective press releases; getting to know local media; handling hostile press enquiries; designing parish magazines / newsletters.

Beginner’s guide to building a website – setting up a website from scratch; basic design principles; content production.

Digital photography – digital cameras and their settings; choosing subjects and composition; preparing pictures for publication.

The course will be led by Stephen Regan (Diocesan Director of Communication, who is an experienced professional journalist) and Stephen Freeman (Diocesan Design and Communications Officer, whose professional background is in advertising and marketing).

Foxhill is in a wooded estate with an entrance on Tarvin Road, Frodsham, WA6 6XB.
