Mainly Music in Cheadle Hulme

undefinedAll Saints church in Cheadle Hulme has launched a new weekly group for pre-school children and their parents or carers and the the demand for the sessions has proved so high that there is already a waiting list.

For several years parishioners had been eager to support baptism families via some sort of group, but were unsure how best to do that. They wanted a group that was fun, and that would build relationships and help parents to fulfill their baptism promises. But the group also had to be sustainable in the long term and manageable in the small spaces available.

They found the perfect fit in the ‘Mainly Music’ idea. This is a programme designed for churches which includes songs and rhymes with props and musical instruments, and a picnic-style snack time for the children. The children also get to play, supervised by the volunteers, while the adults have their own coffee break and a home-made treat.

The material is creative and original. There are some familiar rhymes and songs and lots of new ones, including a ‘God song’ every week. Mainly Music aims to give churches the structure and support to make connections with families and share the Christian faith while having fun.

“Mainly Music has been such a blessing to All Saints church,” said Curate, the Revd Becky Gibbs. She suggests people have a look at  mainly-music to find out more. And anyone who wishes to go and see the group in action at All Saints is welcome but should phone Becky first on 01625 410755.
