Cycling canon’s dome to dome trip

undefinedThe Revd Canon John Bowers and his son Chris (pictured) will this summer go on a sponsored cycling pilgrimage from St Paul's Cathedral in London to the Sacr-Coeur (Sacred Heart) Basilica in Paris. Once again their cycling will raise funds for the rescue and care of girls in danger in Kenya.

The two men thank everyone that contributed to the £17,000 they raised on their ride in Ireland last year.

It’s John Bowers’ seventh year of supporting – with pedal power – the Barnabas Fund project in northern Kenya. The retired clergyman has many supporters for his annual efforts – including Bishop Peter.

John asks that supporters make cheques payable to the Barnabas Fund and send them to his address: Revd Canon John Bowers, 2 Shalford Grove, West Kirby, CH48 9XY.

There will be no deductions from your gift. If you pay tax please send a covering letter, giving your name, title and full address and requesting that your donation by registered for Gift Aid.

Proceeds from the cycle ride will go to help feed, clothe and educate the girls in Kenya, and to protect as many as possible from the ritual of genital mutilation, and to care for those who have been affected.

This trip marks the 50th year of John’s ordination, and he’s very much looking forward to being with his son again at the Sacré-Coeur. They visited it 1979 on a previous cycle tour.
