Jesus Shapes People 2015

undefinedWe are one of the first dioceses outside Yorkshire to take Jesus Shaped People (JSP) seriously. Jesus Shaped People is a whole church adventure that helps parishes identify the priorities that Jesus modelled in his ministry and through living those priorities local churches are renewed in the image of Christ.

The movement grew out of churches ministering in tough housing estates in Bradford. It’s very much a bottom-up resource – a source of renewal growing out of places where the church had often struggled to flourish.

The Revd Gordon Dey (pictured right) developed JSP first of all for his own church in the former Bradford diocese. It touched the life of several parishes around the city.

Gordon and his team have now received funding from the Archbishop’s Council to take the adventure to other parts of the country.

There are now nine parishes in our diocese signed up to JSP. And an even greater number are now seriously considering becoming part of the adventure.

The Revd Richard Burton, our Parish Development Officer, said: “Jesus Shaped People is one of the most exciting resources I’ve encountered in all of my years of ministry. It’s designed to help churches ministering in the most challenging contexts and helps them become Jesus-focused."
