undefinedThis scene from the Christingle service at St Philip's church, Hassall Green, near Sandbach, was captured by one of the congregation. It shows two young girls looking at their Christingle oranges, bedecked with the traditional red ribbons, candles and sweets on cocktail sticks.

Vicar of Sandbach Heath, Wheelock and Hassall Green, the Revd Gill Stanning, said: “The children always enjoy the symbolism of Christingle and they love lighting the candles.

“When we explain the meaning of Christingle they really pay attention, and they certainly enjoy eating the sweets!”
