Godspell, GAP show Compstall 2012

'Godspell' - the rock musical show which presents parables from the gospels, particularly from St Matthew's gospel - will be performed at St Paul's, Compstall, Stockport, SK6 5HU, Wednesday to Friday, 12 to 14 September. Performances start at 7.45pm.

The parish’s Godspell show came about through the efforts of Vicar Lynne Boyle’s  husband, Mick, a drama teacher ,and is a Growth Action Planning (GAP) initiative to involve teenagers more in church life.

Mick found that the parish had a number of teenagers who were involved in music and/or drama and so he asked them whether they would like to put on a show.

He has produced Godspell before – a previous production is pictured above – so he suggested the project to 11 teenagers from the parish. They thought it would be a great way of putting across the biblical message and so the work began.

The church itself will be turned into a theatre for the three nights of the performance. The youngsters are being accompanied by professional musicians and a mixture of other professional/amateur singers for the show.

Tickets priced £6 are obtainable by phoning 0161 427 1259.
