Giant Easter Egg festival stockport 2014

undefinedParishioners at St. Thomas' Church, Stockport, have come up with a novel way to celebrate Easter this year. They are holding an Easter egg festival and hoping to display a collection of huge eggs decorated by the local community.

The grade-I listed church in the heart of Stockport seats 1000 people and the PCC has been looking at creative ways of using the space and building stronger relationships with the local community. In preparation for the festival, members of the church have been busy constructing giant eggs as well as planning a whole host of Easter-themed activities for people of all ages.

The Revd Andrew Lythall, Rector of St. Thomas', said: "The festival promises to be a fantastic event for the whole community. We have been delighted by the response and enthusiasm for the festival received so far by local schools, charities and businesses. We hope that the event will very much strengthen St. Thomas' position as the heart of the local community."

The festival will run from 25 to 27 April. More information is available on St. Thomas' website

Easter Sunday falls on 20 April this year.
