Congleton Street Pastors commissioned May 2014

undefinedThe Congleton Street Pastors were formally commissioned during a service of thanksgiving held at Congleton URC on Friday 23 May. The team pictured is drawn from a variety of churches all over the town. All have now completed several months of training and are ready to step forward and out onto the streets.

Street pastors are Christian adults who undergo training in order to voluntarily patrol the streets of town centres at night, helping and caring for people in practical ways.

The Archdeacon of Macclesfield Ian Bishop spoke at the service from John 15 and encouraged the team to go and bear fruit.

Amongst those pictured are Fiona Bruce MP, Cllr Dennis Murphy, Mayor of Congleton, Sergeant Russ Thomas and Tony Winter from Street Pastors. They all added their encouragement and Tony Winter presented the team with their official caps.
