Community centre opening St John Dukinfield 2012

undefinedSt John's Church in Dukinfield has opened its 1 million new centre. The old church hall has been demolished to make way for the centre which is linked to the church.

The building provides space for administrative back-up for the church’s mission and outreach work, and will be a base for parent  groups, a depression support group, luncheon clubs, work with care homes, the elderly,  children and young people, Alpha courses (evangelism), and lots of other activities.

Vicar Tim Hayes is pictured (above) outside the centre. Photograph reproduced by kind permission of the Tameside Advertiser.

Tim said: “The new building has first-rate meeting facilities, including a great coffee bar area, an atrium and a lounge. The centre is very bright and airy and made from locally-sourced stone. It will make a massive difference to the parish and the local community.”

The centre has been funded almost entirely by donations from parishioners.
