Committed Christian is given MBE Diana Forrest

undefinedDr Diana Forrest, a member of the leadership team at Sale West Community Church, was made a Member of the British Empire (MBE) in the New Year Honours. A Christian since her teenage years, Diana, now 63, was Director of Public Health in Knowlsey, Merseyside, until she retired in 2010. She lives with her TV producer husband John in Sale.

She and her team in Knowsley were credited with reducing health inequalities in the borough at a rate which far outstripped the national average.

Her honour is given for services to public health.  A hospital doctor earlier in her career, she is a trustee of Transforming Lives Together – a new joint venture between Diocese of Chester and the Church Urban Fund which aims to combat poverty and the effects of poverty.

Since retirement Diana has focused on her voluntary work in Sale West, where she helps link the various partners in statutory and voluntary organisations with local church people – the aim being to improve the quality of life.

She said: “By combining spiritual improvements with physical and social improvements we can make a lasting impact on our local area.”

Diana (pictured above) is due later this year to receive her honour at Buckingham Palace.

She said: “I was absolutely delighted to receive the MBE and it is a huge encouragement to me. This award also reflects the great expertise and commitment of the team I was privileged to work with in Knowsley."
