New funding for our great mission initiatives

The grants are intended for developing mission from ideas which have already been seen to work, and adapting those initiatives for use in other places.

A grant of £100,000 will go to 'The Bridge’ School of Mission and Church Planting in Stockport.  The project’s been inspired by the work of GLO (God Loves Offerton) – a church plant led by All Saints Church, Marple. PICTURED are GLO volunteers running a free community car wash.

And £95,000 will go to ‘Open Door’, at St Paul with St Luke parish, Tranmere, Birkenhead, to develop that project and also to set up a similar endeavour at St Mary’s Church in Liscard, Wallasey.

‘Open Door’ involves starting up a new midweek all-age congregation. The special feature of the services is that other local Anglican churches get involved in the running of ministry.

Archdeacon of Chester Mike Gilbertson said: “These grants are a vote of confidence for the excellent mission work already taking place in our diocese, and they bode well for exciting developments in the future."
