Christ Church Oxton Art Festival 2012


Organist and DAC Secretary Paul Broadhurst - playing at the arts festivalChrist Church in Oxton Village, Birkenhead, is holding an arts festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (13, 14 and 15 July). The aim is to celebrate and encourage artistic endeavour in the local community. The festival follows on from the parish's successful participation in the Wirral Festival of Firsts last summer.

A diverse programme has been organised for Christ Church's festival, held at the church in Bessborough Road,  CH43 1TE.

Local blues and rock'n'roll band Orange Zebra perform on Friday evening. There will be an arts exhibition over the weekend, and organ recitals on the famous Father Willis organ by the Secretary for the Diocesan Advisory Committee, Paul Broadhurst (pictured). 

Other highlights:
-  a ‘Creativity Zone’ (artists at work) on Saturday afternoon with art activities for children
-  a Wilfred Owen tribute (the poet had strong links to Christ Church) on Saturday evening
-  a dramatised Dickens reading on the Saturday evening
-  a poetry cafe featuring Eleanor Rees, with an open mike on Sunday afternoon.

The events are free admission but donations will be welcomed for the two chosen charities – Claire House and Help for Heroes.
