undefinedThe annual Friends of Chester Cathedral lecture will take place at 7pm on Thursday 14 April at the cathedral. David Fall (PICTURED), CMG, former British Ambassador to Thailand, Vietnam and Laos will speak on 'Released into the Community, reflections of an ex-Excellency'.

Born in Wiltshire, David studied at St Bartholomew’s Grammar School, Newbury and New College, Oxford. After graduating with a BA in Modern History, he spent a year as a VSO in Papua New Guinea and joined the British Diplomatic Service in 1971.

His overseas postings included Thailand (three times, in the 1970s, 1990s and finally as Ambassador from 2003 to 2007), South Africa, Australia (as Deputy High Commissioner) and Vietnam (Ambassador).
He was chairman of the Anglo-Thai Society from 2009 until 2012 and is a vice chair of the Board of the British Red Cross.
